A strong heartbeat...

There is a strong heartbeat... it must be a boy!! I can't tell you how many times I have heard this in last 24 hours. I went to the doctor yesterday afternoon. I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time (totally exciting and crazy for a first time mom!) and the doctor said that it was in the 150's which is really good at 14 weeks! Great, I thought, this is terrific news! Little did I know this would forever (well, for the next 6 months) set in the minds of those around me that I am in fact carrying a darling little boy. One lady even told me to not worry about another ultrasound because she could tell by looking at my back, that it is going to be a boy! I didn't know my large behind was a good thing when it came to predicting the sex of my unborn child (now, about these hips...?). I have heard a strong heartbeat, not a lot of weight gain (weight gain as of today- 0 lbs.), carrying low, craving pickles and mustard (I haven't craved either of these) are all signs that the stork is delivering a baby boy. Well, I don't know about you all, but I think I'll wait for the ultrasound before I start buying everything blue!

that is so funny about the heartbeat meaning it's a boy. i have never heard that one before, and i have heard a lot of old wives tales!
just to play devil's advocate and because i think the simpson clan need more girls, you should know that scarlett's(our baby) heartbeat has never been below 160 at all my checkups and i am carrying her just as low as i did reagan. makes for GREAT lower back pain. but, don't get me wrong. boys are great too. i really like the one i've got.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but as an old Labor and Delivery nurse, that heart rate is the heart rate for a normal baby--it's not gender specific. I've given birth three times and the best advice I can give you is to just enjoy the next few months. You will have whatever the combination of chromosomes gives you and either one is wonderful!
